About me
Hi there! I'm Emma, the proud owner and founder of Em Sleep Consulting. As a mom to an energetic 2-year-old, I completely understand the value of a good night's sleep – after all, I don't function well on too little of it! Rejecting the notion that parenthood inevitably means sleep deprivation, I embarked on the journey of sleep consulting.
To ensure I could offer the best support to families like yours, I chose the most comprehensive path, earning my certification from the Family Sleep Institute. Now, armed with the knowledge and expertise as a certified baby and toddler sleep consultant, I'm thrilled to help your family achieve the restful nights you all deserve!
My professional background as a Physician Assistant, with a Master's degree from Weill Cornell Medical College, spans nearly a decade. I've worked in various specialties, from oncology to PACU, within New York City hospitals.
Outside of my consulting role and chasing after my little one, I indulge my love for reading fiction books. While my restaurant exploration has taken a back seat, I still enjoy discovering new places, even if only through recommendations. Currently, I'm also embracing the challenge of learning to speak Italian.
I'm genuinely excited that you've found your way to Em Sleep Consulting, and I'm eager to work with your family in achieving those essential sleep goals. Let's make bedtime a peaceful and enjoyable experience for everyone!
Looking forward to connecting with you soon,
Emma Mamone

At Em Sleep Consulting, I know that having access to support is essential for success. That's why I offer longer hours of communication, from 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. M-F EST, and 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on the weekends. It is also my goal to respond to your messages as quickly as possible, so that you can receive the help you need in real time. If you feel like you need extra support, I can also help you! I offer an add-on package that extends the support hours from 7:00 a.m-10:00 p.m. EST daily.

I can start working with families on a one or two-week consultation package when the child is 16 weeks adjusted to six years old.
For families looking for newborn sleep education, I offer a separate package for children up to 16 weeks old.

If you are struggling with your child's sleep, schedule a free 15 minute discovery call with me. During this call we will talk about your child's sleep problems, your goals, and figure out which package is right for your family.
-
No! While the extinction method (also known as cry-it-out) is one proven method of sleep training (and a safe and effective one at that) there are other methods that have varying levels of provider involvement. During your consultation we will talk in detail about your child's temperament, your parenting style, and comfort level. From there, we will come up with a sleep training solution that is customized to your preferences.
-
The truthful answer is, yes, there will be crying and protesting. I want to set you up with realistic expectations, and do not want to promise you that there will be no crying (and you should not trust anyone who does). However, this does not mean that there is damage being done, or you are hurting your child. Crying is a child's only way of expressing themselves, and this will temporarily be a huge change for them. I will be there to support you through the entire process, and in the end your family will be more well rested and happier.
-
Absolutely not! I am happy to share resources for you about the short and long term effects of sleep training. Sleep is essential for our little one's health, happiness, growth, immunity, and the list goes on. By going through a short term sleep training process you are giving your child the lifelong skill of learning to sleep, and providing them with all of these benefits.

I understand that some families choose to bed share, however for safety and liability reasons I cannot work with families who are bed sharing with their child. Sometimes families are reactively bed sharing, because they are desperate, but wish for their child to sleep in their own room. If this describes your situation, we can absolutely work together to get your child sleeping independently.
-
Absolutely! If you are providing overnight feedings, I would suggest reaching out to your child's pediatrician or IBCLC to discuss how many overnight feedings your child requires.
-
Yes! In order for your sleep plan to be successful it takes consistency, which is why I will be there to give you one-on-one support throughout the process. Results may not be immediate, but by following your customized sleep plan, you should expect to see improvements by the end of the consultation.
